We are dedicated to supporting veterans and participating in patriotic holiday events, squadrons not only expand the post’s representation but reflect the SAL’s purpose “to foster and perpetuate a true spirit of Americanism."
The Sons of The American Legion (SAL) is an officially recognized organization established by The American Legion’s National Executive Committee (NEC). Each local SAL squadron is sponsored by an American Legion post and operates under its guidance, while also adhering to national regulations.
SAL squadrons support veterans, promote patriotism, and engage in community service. Their mission is to "foster and perpetuate a true spirit of Americanism" through volunteer work, leadership development, and participation in programs such as Boys State, Boys Nation, the Oratorical Contest, Scouting, and more. They also promote flag etiquette and fund scholarships.
SAL members volunteer through the VA Voluntary Service program and take on leadership roles within squadrons and American Legion initiatives. The program is designed to complement—not compete with—other youth organizations and aims to enhance members’ academic and extracurricular growth.
Guided by a supervisory committee of dedicated Legionnaires, SAL squadrons strive to serve their communities while upholding the values of The American Legion.
